I know what it's like to navigate spaces where the expectations of leadership don't always leave room for every part of who you are.
Throughout my military career, my experiences as a woman and mother have challenged me to examine what leadership really means, whose expectations I was trying to meet, and what it looks like to lead without making myself smaller.
As a historian, I also understand that the expectations we carry don't begin with us. They're shaped by the women who raised us, the traditions we inherited, and the systems we've learned to navigate.
But honoring where we come from doesn't mean we have to repeat everything we've been taught.
